St. John Vianney Catholic School is a community united by our Catholic faith. Since our founding in 1954, we have remained committed to serving the mind, body, and spirit grounded in the Gospel values.
Our doors opened in September 1954, when Father Fred Cook and the Sisters of the Presentation founded the school with six classrooms and a vision for Catholic education in the Foothills of East San Jose. Just three years later, in 1957, we celebrated our first graduating class. Since then we’ve proudly graduated over 4,300 students, each one a testament to the lasting impact of a St. John Vianney education.
Through the decades, we have grown and expanded to meet the needs of our growing school and students.Originally starting with six classrooms in 1954, we quickly expanded to include eight additional classrooms and a library in 1961. A dedicated Kindergarten and Extended Care Center was added in 1993, which allowed us to complete our comprehensive curriculum in 2018 with the addition of our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) class. In 2012, we proudly opened our school gym, creating a space for school athletics, events, and community gatherings.
Most recently, we completed renovations to our main building during the pandemic and installed a synthetic turf field in 2024. We have made enhancements to our campus to better support the students' learning, growth and sense of community for years to come.
