Congrats to Chris Beyerle, Class of 1996!

We love sharing good news of our alumni. Congrats to SJV Alumni Chris Beyerle (Class of 1996) for being awarded the Teacher of the Year at Dr. Phinnize J Fisher Middle School in Greenville, South Carolina and nominated as one of the Top 10 Finalist for the 2020-21 GCS Teacher of the Year! Additionally, Chris was also awarded the Western Region STEM Educator of the Year Finalist (the winner for the state of South Carolina will be announced on April 20th).

Read in Chris' own words how his educational experience at SJV helped shaped his successes.

I wanted to thank St. John Vianney and its teachers for providing me the educational training and background that led to these awards. I'm appreciative of the talented and caring professional staff that opened up opportunities I wouldn't have otherwise have had. I'm thankful for the character values and Catholic faith that was instilled in me at an early age. Sister Michele Ann was the principal at the time, but I'm thankful for her leadership and support for putting students first. I also wanted to let teachers know now, they never know where their influence stops or when a moment can change a child's future. That moment for me was when VP Mrs. Martha Wood had a conversation with me in her office as I was completing some transfer paperwork before I moved to SC. I don't remember exactly what was said but I remember she gave me some academic tips that improved my confidence and gave me the assurance that I would be okay and not to be afraid. That stuck with me in my journey across the country. I just appreciated the fact, she gave up some of her time to let a student that they mattered.

Bravo, Chris! We are very proud and celebrate with you on these amazing accomplishments! Chris Beyerle's successes is testament to what makes SJV unique: Amazing and caring teachers & staff, supportive school community, and excellent academics!
